Bonding

Parker has warmed up to Addison being home. He's very loving and wants to hold her all the time. He gets very distressed when she cries! It is very sweet. Here's a video of him "sharing" his toys with her. He couldn't quite understand why she couldn't catch the football!

New Chapter

Our bags are packed and ready to go! Addison Claire has been served her "eviction notice!" We are scheduled to check into the hospital Sunday night to begin the induction process. I am excited and anxious. Now that we have an official "date" I've been pretty emotional. So many thoughts....How can I love two? How is this going to affect Parker? Do I even remember how to take care of a newborn?!

I've been given the wonderful luxury of being on "bed rest" for the past three days. I am so thankful for the sweet, precious time with just Parker. I'm pretty sure he senses something is up because he is quite clingy and wants Mommy in his sight at all times. We've played trucks, threw balls, went on treasure hunts, read books, played in his tent, watched some Mickey Mouse, baked muffins, and so many more things! Oh how I've tried to soak up every moment with my precious first born!

As our family of three all played ball before bed last night, my eyes filled with tears. Joshua looked at me and asked what was wrong. I felt guilty saying that I was sad that this "chapter" in our lives was over and that how in just a few days things would never be the same. And Joshua reminded me that I felt the same way the night before Parker was born...and how I cried saying that "this chapter was over" and "things would never be the same." And I was right....but oh the happiness the new chapter held.

As much as my heart wants to put a bookmark right here...I know that joy awaits when we turn the page. So come on baby girl....we are ready.

Long Overdue...

So I've been accused of abandoning the blog. It wasn't my intention, but going back to work full-time, chasing an "all boy" 2 year old, and being PREGNANT have kept me from lots of things lately! But...it is Fall Break here in Griffin and I finally found some time to update!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Addison Claire Todd. We are hoping that she will grace us with her presence any day now. We are ready to meet her! She is measuring big like her brother and we have sonogram scheduled for next week. After that appointment, we will determine the "course of action." (whether to induce or not!)

Parker is talking up a storm and has become very dramatic. (a trait his father says comes from..uh hum...me) The poor child has no idea that his little world is about to be rocked with the arrival of "sissy." He knows that there is "sissy's room" and "sissy's blankie" and will point to my belly when asked "where is sissy?" But...I really don't think he has a CLUE about this "sissy" and how she will be invading his little utopia soon. I figure he will react in one of two ways: 1. He won't even care or 2. He will turn into the creature from the black lagoon. We shall see.

I am working full-time again, back in the classroom. My wonderful part-time position was the victim of local budget cuts and I was left with the choice of no job or back to teaching. After two years OUT of the classroom, I landed back into self-contained EIP Kindergarten. (kids that haven't been in any type of preschool) Needless to say, it's been challenging! I am enjoying all the comedy that comes from being back with kids all day!

Joshua is teaching honors and AP English and is Department Head. He stays busy with school and running. He just finished a half-marathon a few weekends ago.

Below are some of Parker's 2 year pictures along with some of our family. It is a little sad that these are the last pictures of our family of three...but I'm really looking forward to adding baby GIRL to the mix!

Fish Story

Parker caught his first fish! (with a little help from Uncle Kolby) He loves his fishing pole and is quite the caster. He can cast that thing better than most people and has caught many an object including Moma and Doodad's ceiling fan...while it was spinning. He was so excited to go out in Papaw's boat and it was like he knew exactly what to do when we pulled up to the "fishing spot." I'm pretty sure he would have stayed out there all day and night. Looks like he inherited the Byrd fishing gene! So thankful for precious memories!

Video Overload!

My camera's memory card was FULL of videos. Finally found time to upload some of them...so this post is a video overload!

Parker still has a thing for helium. We visited Chick-fil-A one night and he scored a balloon from the waitress. It wasn't tied to anything and in the hustle of getting in the house, the balloon got away from us and flew straight up to the tip top of our cathedral ceilings. The look on Parker's face was one of utter distress. See the video below for what followed...

Parker's first boat ride wtih Papaw! Be sure to listen closely as Parker keeps telling Papaw to "go fast!"

We've been swimming ("swimmy" as Parker calls it) several times this summer. Parker LOVES it!! This video is from our first outing and his first time wearing "swimmies." He is not quite so easy to hang on to now! He caught on to the concept very quickly and wears us out in the water! We ALL take great naps after swimmy mornings!!
