Mr. Mischief

Joshua and I have been on "Winter Break" all week and have enjoyed being home with Parker. It seems that he has reached so many milestones in a matter of a week. I am so thankful that he decided to do all these "new" things while Mommy and Daddy were both home! It started with him crawling....then he decided to pull up. On Tuesday afternoon, Parker was napping and all of a sudden we heard a scream from the nursery. I went to see what was up and there he was peering at me over the crib railing. He had pulled up and couldn't get down. I called for Joshua and Granmamma to come see and we were all amazed. So, we let the mattress down that night. He has since being crawling all over the house and attempting to pull up on anything within reach. This has resulted in many bumps and a nice bruise on his forehead. While I'm amazed at his development, I am sad that it is happening so fast. My baby is becoming a big boy and I'm not ready for that!
Yesterday, Joshua and I were fixing lunch and Parker was playing in the living room floor. Joshua walked into the living room and said "Where is Parker?" I thought he was playing peek-a-boo, but he really was asking "Where is Parker?!" After a moment of panic...I noticed a foot sticking out from under the loveseat. Of course, I grabbed the camera!

6 Month Checkup

We just returned from Parker's six month checkup with Dr. Coker. Can you believe he is six months old? Dr. Coker was thoroughly impressed with Parker's new crawling ability and the fact that he has 6 teeth. He advised me to "step up" the solid foods. Parker weighs in at 20 lbs 1 oz and is 27.5 inches long. He is in the upper 90th percentile in everything. I was concerned that Parker isn't nursing as eagerly these days and he isn't taking as many ounces from the bottle. Dr. Coker said he wasn't concerned because Parker is the size of the average 2 year old. The boy's got reserve.
What I know about you at 6 months...
- You are into everything and I'm pretty sure you are going to be Mr. Mischief.
- You still fight sleep and unless it sneaks up on you...you don't go down easy.
- You LOVE bath time.
- You will find any cord in the house. Lamp cord, laptop cord, iron cord...you don't care as long as it is a cord and you can get it.
- You love to sit in my lap and listen to a story. Your favorite is Goodnight Moon.
- You've started laughing at silly faces and noises. I'm addicted to your laugh and I'll do some pretty silly things to hear it!
- You do not like to be still. Changing your diaper and clothes is a workout. You like to "crocodile death roll" as your daddy calls it.
- You still refuse to sit up. You will sit if we put you in that position, but you won't sit up on your own. Too many things to do and cords to get to.
- You have begun to suck your thumb, much to Mommy's displeasure.
- You have serious Mommy attachment. You whine and fret if you can't see me. (secretly...I LOVE this!)
- We have to lower the crib mattress because you are attempting to pull up.
- We had to buy a big boy car seat because you've "filled out" the infant carrier. (which is supposed to last until you are a year old...so much for that)
- You know your name and turn when we call you.
- You HATE peas, but LOVE applesauce or pears.
- You love for Daddy to lay in the floor so you can crawl and climb all over him.
- You are my heart. I love you so much more every day. Sometimes, when you are sleeping...I watch you and thank God that He gave you to us. I pray that you seek after Him with all your heart. I am so blessed to be your mommy. I love you my sweet sugarbear.

Can You Believe It?
It was your typical Friday night here at the Todd house. Mommy and Daddy had cheap frozen pizza for dinner while Parker ate cereal and bananas. After bath time, Parker and Daddy played in the nursery floor while Mommy cleaned the bathroom and got pajamas ready. Then in an instant the evening went from "typical" to the most excitement Mommy and Daddy have had on a Friday night since college. Parker crawled. Parker got a glimpse of a toy Joshua was holding and next thing you know...he was crawling toward Joshua. Joshua kept backing up and Parker kept following him. By the time I got the camera, they were out of the nursery, into the hallway, and headed for the guest room. You would have thought that Ed McMahon had just rang our doorbell to give us a million dollars. We were giddy with excitement...calling all the grandparents, texting all our friends. (thank you Kemps and Stansberrys for amusing us with an excited response) It was pandemonium, I tell ya. I think the world might stop spinning on its axis when Parker decides to walk.

Cuteness and Teeth
Parker is all over the place now. He is "creeping" his way everywhere he shouldn't...under the entertainment center, under the couch, into the magazine bucket, etc. One thing he will NOT do is sit up. Too boring for him. He wants to go. I've tried to teach him how to sit. He will do it for about a second, then it is off to "creeping" again. He has discovered his feet and loves to grab them and roll from side to side. He can't quite get them into his mouth due to his sweet "full" belly. Parker will be six months old in one week. I can't believe it. Below is a video of Parker "sitting" in his Bumbo chair watching Baby Einstein. If you look close and quick, you can see all SIX teeth!
