SNOW!

We've got about 3 inches already here in Griffin and it is still coming down strong! It took us about 10 minutes to get everyone bundled up to spend about 15 minutes outside in the "blizzard." Parker LOVED it. He took off running as soon as the garage door opened. It was so much fun!

He was RUNNING down the driveway. I just knew he was gonna bust it...but he didn't!

He just HAD to get his car out! There might be someone who needs help!

The only way we could get him inside was to say he could watch "Mickey" (his new favorite show) So, here he is warming up watching Mickey eating some goldfish...life is good.

Stages

Parker turns 18 months old next week and I've been looking back through some pictures. I've noticed that as Parker moves from one "stage" to the next, he tends to have a favorite "thing."

For example, at 3 months it was his buddy "lefty handy"... Then at 6 months it was the oh-so-dangerous fireplace...


At 12 months it was his love of helium...(which he still does appreciate)

And now at almost 18 months...it's Mommy's travel hairdryer....

Can't wait to see what the next "stage" brings!

Jump!

We had our great friends the Stansberrys over for some Pizza and Playtime the other night. Their daughter Lawson was showing us how she can jump. Parker thought it was too fun and tried to jump himself. He can't seem to figure out why his feet aren't leaving the ground. It is too cute. I got a quick video of his "jumping ability" tonight. Also, Parker is becoming quite the copycat lately. We have to be careful what we say as he is bound to repeat it...over and over and over. He's apparently seen us use tissues as you can see from the video below! (except...we usually don't eat our tissues)

Mommy's Helper

Parker loves to put the wet clothes from the washer into the dryer. He usually stands at the dryer door and I hand them to him. I handed him a wet garment without looking and heard it hit the floor. I looked down and he was gone. I looked all around me thinking he had slipped out or was playing behind me. Then I saw a hand reach out and grab the wet sweatshirt and pull it in the dryer. I love this kid.Parker also likes "being in on the action." He gets frustrated if he can't see what's going on. Tonight I let him "help" me wash dishes. Couldn't help but smile as soap and water were flying all around the kitchen.

After we finished up the dishes, the clothes were dry. So we pulled them out and put them in a basket to fold. While I was putting the next load in the washer, Parker made sure no one stole the clean clothes. I know that soon it will no longer be "cool" to help Mommy. So, I'm treasuring these moments!



UPDATE ON PAPAW: We got positive results from the latest round of blood work. The hormone treatments have significantly lowered his PSA level, which is what grows the cancer. While we know that this only buys us more time and isn't a cure, we are thankful and give God the Glory. He is in great spirits and in no pain. We are so thankful for that! We are also thankful for all the encouraging words, cards, and most of all your prayers.

Christmas 2009

We had the Todd Family over to our house on Christmas Eve night, Santa came to our house on Christmas, then we ate the annual Todd Family Breakfast at Granmamma's! We loaded up the day after Christmas and headed to Mamaw and Papaw's in Rabun County! We spent a week there and even saw some snow! We had a wonderful holiday and hope you did too!

Finding the Todd Family Christmas Tree!

Forrest and Rita got married! It was a beautiful wedding and a FUN reception complete with a Mariachi Band! All the Todds and Holders danced the night away!

This was a traditional Mexican dance that was so much fun! Forrest selected three people who "hold him up in life" to hold him in the chair while all the wedding guests danced around and tried to knock him off! Not sure why we were trying to knock him off, but it was FUN!

The Todds and the Holders! Meanwhile, while Mommy and Daddy are dancing the night away...

Parker had some good Mamaw and Papaw time! He loves this book that Mamaw brought. It has Parker's picture as all the characters! He thinks it is sooooo funny!Update on Daddy(aka Papaw): He is in great spirits. The hormone treatments have begun and we will wait to see how his body reacts. He lacks energy at times and gets weak if he over does it, but is in no pain. We have heard lots of positive things about the hormone therapy. While it will not cure the cancer, it does slow the growth down. We are also looking into some clinical trials to target the cancer that has metastasized in the bones. We continue to focus on the "happy times" and making memories. Joshua, Parker, and I will be headed to Rabun soon to do just that!
